TP McLean Sports Journalism Finalists Announced

The New Zealand Sports Journalists Association has announced the finalists for the 2005 Sir Terry McLean National Sports Journalism Awards sponsored by SPARC.
A record number of 198 entries – more than 20 up on last year – were received across the 10 categories. One of the category winners will go on to take the overall Sports Journalist of the Year title plus a return trip for 2 to Europe from Emirates Airline.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Spencer on Byron Hotel in Auckland on Friday, October 28.
Four previous overall winners are among the finalists this year. They are Phil Gifford for best columnist, Marc Hinton and Margot Butcher, best magazine features and Andrew Cornaga, sports photography portfolio.
