Success stories
"I jumped at the chance to coach soccer, having played for some 40 years, some of this at a fairly high standard.
The pre-programme sessions organised by CoachCorp were a good introduction and helped 'budding coaches' to focus on some key aspects of coaching skills. I was fortunate because Bernice Mene led the programme, and she is an excellent sportsperson and role model.
Then we were all set to go. I was lucky enough to be able to coach the Auckland Grammar School Third 11 soccer team. The bank willingly allowed me to take a few hours of time every week to participate in the coaching and in return I gave up my Saturday mornings to be at the games to support and coach the team.
I focused on building a team spirit and on trying to get the team to see the game from a bigger perspective, while working on set moves and some individual skill training. Obviously it paid off because the team won the championship and for the first time in their history were promoted to the Senior A3 Grade!"

"CoachCorp, what a wonderful idea! I currently work for the ASB Bank and have had the opportunity to coach Year 4 netball at Freemans Bay Primary in Auckland. What a ball!!!!
I coach the kids during their lunch break on Monday afternoons and it has to be the best start to the week ever. No matter how bad my morning has been, or what work is waiting for me when I return to my desk, nothing can wipe the smile off my face after training is finished.
It has to be one of the best feelings in the world, seeing these kids, improving while they are having fun at the same time, especially when they had no idea about the sport and only has a passion to learn how to play.
The hugs, the "thank-you’s" and the "we missed you" when we have missed a session, is the best reward anyone can ask for.
Thank you to CoachCorp and my employer for this opportunity to meet and coach these wonderful kids. I fully recommend this experience to anyone who is looking to give it a go."
