New Sports House – a Sports House is a regional facility that allows sporting organisations to be based together in order to share resources and work together to improve their effectiveness and efficiencies. This new Sports House complex at Kensington Park will accommodate for the first time 15 regional sports bodies and it will make an important contribution to building Northland’s community sports networks. |

Sport Waitakere |
Club improvement programme - Waitakere sports clubs are at a disadvantage as they are at a considerable distance from regional sports entities that could support them. In this region the administrative burden falls on the clubs themselves. This funding is aimed at strengthening clubs’ capability. |

New Sports House - This funding contributes to construction of a new $3.7 million Sports House on WinTEC campus. The Sport House is strategically sited on the Polytechnic campus as this will allow synergies to develop between the WinTEC’s sports and recreation courses and the regional sporting organisations. Twelve regional sporting organisations will be housed in the new facility. |

Sport Wanganui (lead) Sport Hawke’s Bay, Sport Taranaki |
Fundamental Competency Development - recent research has shown that the majority of New Zealand children are unable to meet all the 12 tests of fundamental physical competence. This project is a pilot to increase the capability and capacity of gym clubs to deliver fundamental skills to children aged between three and 10 years. This will be achieved by assessing clubs against a national gym accreditation standard and bringing those clubs that have not reach the standard up to the accredited level. |

New Coaching Director - Gisborne is one of the last regions in New Zealand to receive any Coach Force support. The region needs more coaches and an upgrading of existing coaching skills. There is a significant need to employ a Coaching Director to improve the region’s coaching capability. |

Sport Hawke’s Bay |
Capability interventions with two rugby clubs – two of Hawke’s Bay’s rugby clubs operate in areas of significant socio-economic disadvantage. The project aims to strengthen the two Clubs and generate more volunteers, so they become a community hub to raise morale in the community, build community networks and provide a healthy outlet for young people. |

Fit-out of three Sports Houses - This funding will help Sport Bay of Plenty establish three regional Sports Houses in Tauranga, Rotorua and Whakatane. The region is unusual in that it has three clearly defined communities. These local Sports Houses aim to bring regional support closer to these communities and improve their sport community integration. |

Volunteers for Sport Resource Kit - this project aims to tackle the nationwide decline in the time that sports volunteers are able to give. Sport Wellington plans to develop and test an easy-to-use tool kit of resources to help sports organisations recruit appropriate volunteers, improve the volunteer experience and support the long-term sustainability of volunteers. The project will be trialed with Waka Ama’s regional sport organisation and the clubs within that region. |

New Sports House - t he current Manawatu Sports House is too small and it therefore excludes a number of sporting organisations and creates difficulties for the current tenants. Investment is needed into a new, larger facility within Arena Manawatu. This will increase the numbers of regional sport organisations housed, make operations easier for existing tenants and enhance the networking between organisations. |

Sport Canterbury – West Coast |
New Sports-Specific Clubmark Tools - develop new Clubmark tools which are specifically tailored to the needs of each sport, such as gymnastics and tennis, to better help them grow their operational capability, provide improved services to existing members and grow their membership.
New E-Publication – to promote sport and recreation, and in particular Sport Canterbury services, to Canterbury stakeholders. This publication will be sent every two to three weeks to an estimated 10,000 people. It is a low cost, and very effective way for the Sports Trusts to engage with their constituency, increase service inquiries, and better support their clients. |

Three Sportville Projects - Three umbrella entities will be created for Picton, Westport and Upper Moutere. These entities will bring together the local sports organisations and provide expert skills to manage issues such as financial management, administration and governance. This will allow sporting organisations to concentrate on their sports, strengthen local sporting networks and create synergies between local sports organisations. |

Leaning to Swim Project - There is a pressing need to substantially improve the quantity of swimming teaching resources for Dunedin children, and to reduce the cost of learning to swim for parents which at present has been a significant barrier to getting more children swimming. This is a three-year initiative, between Dunedin City Council, Sport Otago and Surf Life Saving Otago, to provide every 10-12 year old with the opportunity to learn to swim. |
