About SPARC's research

SPARC carries out research in the sport and active recreation sector to provide a strong base of evidence on which policy and programme development can be built.

SPARC's approach to research is set out in the Research Strategy for Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity in New Zealand 2006-2012.

Our research includes:

We're committed to working with other government agencies and collaborating on international research projects (eg, the International Physical Activity Prevalence Study and Value of Sport Monitor).
