Push Play
Push Play Nation 2006
Push Play Nation was held from 15 September to 2 November 2006. There was a day of celebration on November 3 - Push Play Day.
On this page you'll find snapshots taken at a combined Push Play event that Green Prescription groups across Auckland City and Counties Manukau held to celebrate Push Play Day.
You'll also find some excellent feedback we received from people on how Push Play helped them get more active and start to lead healthier lives. And we congratulate the Most Active Region winner and announce the winners of the Avanti bike Push Play Nation competition. So, read on!
It's all about getting more active
A total of 37,305 New Zealanders signed up via the SPARC website for celebrities' activity programmes during Push Play Nation.
Here's some of the feedback we got from them:
- 'I would just like to thank your team of people for getting my family started on a great fitness programme for life. I signed up me and my daughter for this programme to get more physical activities in our life. It was great - we followed Petra's family plan, my partner joined in and the whole lot of us had fun. As two working parents what time we spend together as a family is precious, so to find new ideas of what to do together for free was great. We all sleep better, our moods are better and DVD time is out the window. This year Santa will bring the three of us bikes and a trampoline instead of DVD and computer games. Thanks heaps - you set us on the right track for life - all we needed was a few ideas and motivation, now we're off!' Helen
- 'Just wanted to pass on my thanks for your Push Play incentive! It gave me heaps of extra ideas on how I can get some exercise in my day. I have been getting at least 30 minutes a day for three full weeks now and combining that with some healthy eating. Work has improved as I am more positive and keen to get into things. From being a person who has never really liked exercise and failed twice with standard gyms, this was a great and surprising success. I do realise that most of my success has been due to my commitment, but you certainly made it easier, with practical ideas that i could fit in to my varied and busy life! Thanks!' Karen.
- 'Thank you so much for convincing me to get started on this programme! I inspired my Dad and now for the past month, he has been going on continuous long walks/runs. It has been great for my family, but especially my Dad and me. I am grateful for this programme that you showed me, and because of that, my Dad and me are more healthy and he's not such a couch potato!!!!! Before this we couldn't get him out doing exercise and he was overweight, but he has lost 5 kilos in the past four weeks because of walking every night. Thanks sooooooo much!!!' Renee (aged 12)
