Legislation
There are universal human rights that are internationally recognised.1 In
New Zealand we have legislation such as the Bill of Rights Act 1990, the Human Rights Act 1993, and the Privacy Act 1993. All of these articulate the rights of disabled people.
We also have the Human Rights Commission, with responsibility for the development of a national plan of action for the promotion and protection of Human Rights in New Zealand.
