Funding for sport events
If you’re an NSO that is planning to bid for or host a major sporting event, you can apply for funding from the Major Events Development Fund of the Inter-Agency Events Group (IAEG).
The IAEG uses the Fund to provide sponsorship funding for major events that 'build a dynamic nation and produce significant economic and social benefits'.
The IAEG meets monthly to consider sponsorship funding applications. As part of this group, SPARC is often appointed as the lead agency, leveraging off and working with those major sporting events that are successful in their funding application.
How to apply
You can apply for the funding online at the New Zealand Major Events website.
However, SPARC recommends that you initially discuss your application with Peter Cox, Senior Advisor Events at SPARC. Peter can advise you on both your event planning and specifics around your application. Phone (04) 496 5016 or email peter.cox@sparc.org.nz.
