Northland - Steps toward regional collaboration

Partnership building and regional cooperation in Northland

One of the great benefits to the Northland region that has evolved out of 10,000 Steps Northland, aside from the development of specific programmes, has been strengthened collaboration and the growth of regional partnerships. These include the Northland Sport and Physical Activity Strategy, and the Northland Intersectoral Forum. The membership of these forums is diverse and the relationships bring many organisations across various sectors together.

Because of this collaboration, the future for sport and recreation in Northland looks bright – a strategy is in place, the 22 organisations of the Northland Intersectoral Forum are working together to increase physical activity across Northland, and there is also increasing buy-in at the next level of social infrastructure (PHOs, Maori Health Providers, RSOs etc) to work together for Northlanders.
