Conclusion


These early initiatives in Hawke's Bay and Canterbury remind us all that our communities need information that is local and up to date.  It has been very reassuring to discover that there is impressive growth in some sports and in some regions.  A more comprehensive picture – across all seventeen RST regions – will provide further insights and if it is an annual exercise, it will provide valuable data in the years between the more robust statistical findings of the NZSPAS survey every five years.
