Kathrine Switzer launches her new book

5 Feb 2008

Kathrine Switzer will be undertaking a national tour launching her new biography "Marathon Woman: Running the Race to Revolutionize Women's Sport."

In 1967, Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to officially register in what was then the all-male Boston Marathon, infuriating the event’s director. He attacked her midrace, trying violently to eject her. In what would become one of sport’s most iconic images, Switzer escaped from the official with the help of her fellow runners and finished the race. Switzer will be undertaking a national tour launching her biography "Marathon Woman: Running the Race to Revolutionize Women's Sport."
