Hillary Expedition team on its way

New Zealand climbers Pat Deavoll and Paul Hersey have set off on their
trip to Pakistan, for an attempt on the previously unclimbed mountain
Karmin Sar in the northern territories.
The 6180m Karmin Sar mountain has been attempted unsuccessfully by other expeditions, so Paul says the climbers are expecting "a technical challenge". They hope to make the first ascent of the mountain via the Shilinbar Glacier and east face.
On a blog on her website www.patdeavoll.co.nz , Pat says this will be her third expedition to Pakistan in three years.
"I’ve failed twice on the same mountain -- in 2007 with my friend Lydia Bradey and in 2008 with British climber Malcolm Bass."
"But it’s a fresh peak this year, a fresh approach and hopefully, a fresh outcome! And there is something about the country that draws me back."
The climbers will be attempting to provide updates on their expedition, when they have email access.
"This expedition has been partially funded by SPARC, and we are grateful for its support," Paul says.
