We need our children to be more active, more often - right from the start.

Children aged five to 18 years need to be active for 60 minutes every day.  Find out more.

In this section you can read about the Active Movement programme.

You can learn why movement is vital to healthy development, and get lots of ideas and resources for getting your under-five year old moving.


Programmes for schools
  • If you work with primary school students, you can read about the Active Schools initiative and download resources from the Active Schools Toolkit, Kiwidex and Fundamental Skills.
  • If you work with secondary school students, you can learn about the range of Sportfit programmes, and find out how regional sports directors help get kids more active.
Kiwisport

Kiwisport is a government funding initiative to support sport for school-aged children. Kiwisport was launched by the Prime Minister on 11 August 2009.
