Introduction from SPARC's CEO

Nick Hill, SPARC CEO

Good Day:

Welcome to the inaugural edition of SPARC Today, our new electronic newsletter designed to communicate the latest news and information from SPARC and across the sport and recreation sector.

One of our goals at SPARC is to facilitate a more connected sector. SPARC Today helps us accomplish this by providing a platform for our internal teams to share and publicise new and existing programmes and initiatives. Just as importantly, however, SPARC Today gives our partners a vehicle to communicate across the sector, effectively keeping us all ‘in the loop.’

You’ll note that the newsletter includes pages devoted to High Performance; Pathways (Active Youth, Active Families and Active Communities); Capability and Sport Development; and Research, Policy and Planning.

By and large, newsletter content will be driven by our staff. Frequently, however, there will be opportunities for contributions from across the sector, so I encourage you to submit pertinent ideas or material for inclusion in SPARC Today, which we will update bi-monthly.

Looking to the future, and based on feedback from the National Sport and Recreation Sector Conference in May, we are committed to developing even stronger relationships with our partners in the sector. We view SPARC Today as a simple, yet practical, vehicle for keeping the conversation going.

SPARC remains committed to getting more New Zealanders more active more often. We can only achieve this in partnership with the many thousands of people who choose to work, or volunteer, their time and energy into the sport and recreation sector, and our partner agencies across government.

We look forward to an exciting future, together.

Regards,
Nick Hill
Chief Executive
