The content you’ll find in the Development Kit has been designed to support your development as an official, as well as providing training support for those developing officials for their NSO.

Identifying training Needs

Trying to work out what training you or the officials in your team need can seem like a daunting task. Here are some questions to help you identify your training needs, and plan an approach to help you get what you are looking for.

Type of learning process

Not all learning requires a workshop in order to bridge the gap. Follow this decision-making process to decide the type of learning required for yourself or your officials based on the gap between where the person is now, and where they need to be.

Skill and knowledge NSO assessment

This assessment can be completed by officials at the start of the season to determine skill and knowledge in each of the learning areas. [Note: This is not an assessment of performance – it is an indication of whether a person knows something or can apply a particular skill – not whether they are actually doing it.

Planning your session

This part of the toolkit provides some basic instructions and recommendations for delivering your session on a specific learning area. Those delivering a session are strongly encouraged to go through this section before using the resources.
